More Garage Sale Finds (pic heavy)

As we all know, I love garage sales, thrift stores and a discount.  The last two weekends have been filled with hitting up the garage sales and I found some really great stuff.  I found a pair of Ray Ban sunglasses for five dollars! An absolute steal!  I found a ton of purses, one that might be a Dolce and Gabbana purse, but I’m not sure if it real or not but I’m still gonna rock the hell out of it.  I purchased some bath products that were still in the packaging and a white plate with a stand.  I plan on using that for my jewelry.

I also did some dress shopping and I found a great floral frock at Lane Bryant that was an additional 50% off the already marked down price.  The purple dress was at JC Penney’s and of course, on sale.  The purple dress has a 70’s type of vibe to it and I can’t wait til I wear it out on the town.

The Rummage Roundup and other fab finds

This Saturday, I was busier than a one legged man in a kicking contest. I had way too much to do and pretty much one day to attempt to get it all done.  There were some events that I couldn’t make it too but overall I had a great weekend.

I found out about the Rummage Roundup through the lovely ladies of the DFW Bloggers website and I knew I needed to go.  The Rummage Roundup of Dallas was put on by the Junior League of Dallas.  Now from past experiences dealing with the Junior League of Arlington and the huge rummage sale that they use to have, this was gonna be an epic rummage sale.  The Junior League of Arlington would have these massive garage sales that were held at a convention center (not a super big one, but a mini sized one) and people would camp out the night before to get a place in line.    We wouldn’t camp out but we would get there around 3 a.m. in the morning and would be at least 20^th in line.   Anyway, back to the Rummage Roundup… we wanted to get there early, and we left Fort Worth around 5 a.m. and within 30 minutes we were there… and there were no lines!  When we walked up to the entrance, there were 2 people waiting. WOW. I was expecting way more than that but hey, that means less people picking over the items.  As we waited for 7 a.m. to come, I found time to scope out parts of the sale.  It was a far smaller room than expected, but everything was organized.  I went with my Aunt K and my Mum and we had a game plan.  Aunt K would go for the shoes, and I would go for the clothes and purses.

Overall we found some great items. It wasn’t as huge as I expected it to be but I found some great stuff.  I thought some of the stuff was a bit overpriced. I understand that the proceeds are going towards a great cause, but some of that stuff wasn’t brand spanking new. Very much used. Not that many clothes, the biggest size that I found was and XL and we all know I am not an extra-large.  Mostly shoes, a purse, bath bombs and items for my kitchen.

We would have stayed in Dallas but I don’t know the neighborhoods that well so we headed over to Arlington and found many garages sales.  The best thing that I found was a new pair of Nike shoes which i needed so badly to start working out again.  Usually I can’t find shoes in my size, but Saturday I found so many pairs!  I also found a barely used foot spa and facial steamer, candles, old cds, drink glasses and of course, clothes.

Saturday Garage Sale finds

As we were driving to work on Friday and we were driving past this that is en route to work and when I looked over, they were having a HUGE garage sale. I seriously considered going in late to work to go hit up this sale.  There was a ton of items that were out there and I figured that there would still be stuff out there on Saturday.  We were at the church by 7:30  on Saturday and there were at least 20 people already there.  The furniture was outside and I took a quick glance at that since I need a new bedframe but no luck in that department.  We headed inside and I went for the jewelry.  There are certain things that I hate about garage sales and that’s items that are unmarked and of course every single bit of jewelry was unmarked.  I found this gorgeous necklace and I asked how much it was and the women said five dollars, and I then put the necklace down.  This is a garage sale people! USED ITEMS! I understand that it’s going for a good cause and all, but damn, I’m poor. That’s why I’m shopping at these sales!

 I promptly removed myself from the jewelry area and proceeded to the purses and shoes.  I searched and searched through the purses and I couldn’t find anything different from what I already had except for a little Louis Vuitton wallet.  My Aunt and partner in crime were in the clothes and she called me over.  JACKPOT!  The first thing she found was some plaid pants.  She looked at the size and said it might be too big for me so I went and tried it on, and it fit!  As I was trying on clothes, she kept on looking and then she found me two black skirts, a seersucker jacket and skirt and a black and white hounds tooth jacket with a belt.  The place had tables and tables of shirts, jeans, and everything else in between.  On the tables, I didn’t find anything else for myself but I found tons of stuff for my aunt and my mom.  So when we went to check out, the guy priced everything in my hands and said twenty dollars… he didn’t include my aunt’s items.  So he started pricing her stuff and I was thinking crap, we are gonna go over our thirty dollar budget.  The guy looked at us and said twenty-five dollars for everything! SCORE!

So, we decided to hit a garage sale over by the UNTHSC and when we got there, there were cars all over.  We dropped off my mom and parked the car.  Parking was a major issue because people were going down the wrong direction in the narrow parking lot. It’s not that major people.  So there were tons of tables there and everyone operated their own table.  We walked around a little bit, people mostly had kids’ clothes and since I have none, I had no interest in it.  We found a table where the woman had everything from books to makeup. I headed towards the makeup.  I looked at all the makeup and saw nothing that I really wanted or in the color that I wanted.  What I did find was some Clinique cleaning facial products. WINNING!  The woman came up and said these magic words: “the more you buy the better deal I make.”   I ended buying most of the facial cleaning products and my aunt found me a star toothbrush holder.

We went to one last place for some last minute sales.  The Fairmount neighborhood/street was having garage sales up and down the street! YES.  We walked up and down that street and visited almost every single yard and bought something.  I found a very nice purse, some shoes with stars and some bath salts.

The morning shopping spree ended with Mexican food and beer. Good times.

Garage Sale Friday!

Ok we all know that I love a good deal and there are times you can find great deals outside of a store.  I’ve always loved going to the garage sales and resale shops, you can find the best items there. I blame my mom and my aunt for getting me hooked on the bargain shopping.

The Salvation Army had their yearly garage sale and I always go. The doors didn’t open until 9am but we knew that there was gonna be a line.  I woke up kind of late so we weren’t there at 8am like we were hoping for, but we were there before 8:30 and the line was about 30 people deep.  They let us in at 9am and people were off and running.  Some people just came there and hoarded stuff from everyone else.  This one woman had a shopping cart full of shoes, at least 100 pairs. This was 15 minutes after opening.  Even though there were tons of people attempting to push me out of the way, I held my own.  I’m gonna get mine!

My aunt and I spent about 45 minutes in the warehouse, it was just too much and we had a budget to stay under. My aunt got herself some workout clothes, t-shirts, and some capris.
