Dress Circle- Wake up, Sid!

A contemporary, urbane movie, ‘Wake Up Sid’ encapsulates the journey of a young, rich, confused, youth Sid (Ranbir Kapoor) to a mature individual who finally discovers what he wants out of his life.
Sid, as a character, is someone that a lot of us can associate with and relate to. The emotional upheaval experienced when a person enters the real world post college life is something that most of us would understand very well.
Aisha Banerjee (Konkona Sen Sharma) is again a character straight out of real life. An ambitious, young small town girl, she has come to Bombay to fulfill her dream of becoming a writer. During this journey, she meets Sid and the two become very good friends. While the ending of the movie is somewhat predictable, the whole treatment of the subject is refreshing.
Amongst the supporting cast, Anupam Kher and Supriya Pathak as the parents of Sid, add a lot of meat to their respective roles. Rahul Khanna as the suave and sophisticated boss of Aisha is reminiscent of his character from ‘Love Aaj Kaal’.
A special mention for the cinematography in this movie has to be made. The sights and sounds of Bombay have been captured delightfully here. It looks refreshingly beautiful on screen. Shankar Ehsaan Loy, as usual has come up with a good soundtrack. The song  ‘Iktara’ is quite soothing and carries the essence of the story forward.
Go for it guys. Wake up Sid is an enjoyable watch.
