Free Bon Jovi Concert!

Jon Bon Jovi is set to give a free concert in Central Park next month, in advance of the upcoming All-Star Game at Yankee Stadium.

City officials have confirmed that they will indeed play a free concert in the park on Saturday, July 12th. Bon Jovi let news about a free concert slip during an interview back in April, but the event wasn't made official until Monday.

"It's really a dream come true and for me the perfect bookend to an incredible tour and in the greatest city in the world, bar none," said Bon Jovi. "This is the center of the universe folks and I've just traveled the globe again. Got home from the UK yesterday and i'll tell ya, loudly and proudly New York is the greatest city in the world."

The show is part of a week of events leading up to the Major League Baseball All-Star Game at Yankee Stadium on July 15th.

Tickets will be distributed at baseball parks and events throughout the five boroughs starting on Wednesday.

No more than 60,000 tickets will be distributed in an attempt to maintain the safety and integrity of the lawn's grass, Bloomberg said. "Our interest is in keeping the park open and making sure at the same time that we protect the investment the public has made," he said.

Most of the tickets will be available at Yankee Stadium, but some will also be given out at Shea, Keyspan Park in Brooklyn, and Richmond County Bank Ballpark on Staten Island.
