Alicia Keys and White Stripes get James Bond Theme Song!

Alicia Keys and the White Stripes' Jack White will record the theme song to "Quantum of Solace," the 22nd James Bond film, which hits U.S. theaters Nov. 7.

The song, "Another Way To Die," will be the first duet in Bond soundtrack history. White wrote and produced the song, and also will play drums. The soundtrack to the movie will be released Oct. 28.

The score for the film will be composed by David Arnold.

Amy Winehouse, Beyonce, Leona Lewis, and Duffy had previously been rumored as the vocalists for the latest Bond theme.

Who would you have picked to sing the theme song?

Madonna - Set To Star In Sherlock Holmes

Guy Ritchie is reportedly set to cast his wife Madonna in his upcoming Sherlock Holmes movie.

It's not the first time Madonna would play in one of her husband's movies, does anyone remember 'Swept Away'? This time, Madonna will play an unfortunate victim of a serial killer being pursued by Sherlock Holmes.

A source close to Ritchie reveals, "Madonna is fascinated with the project and the story of Sherlock Holmes.

"Despite the rumors, Guy and Madonna would love to work together again and I don't thing either of them can resist a chance to stick up two fingers up to all the people who think they are splitting."

Guy Richie is currently in California to promote his new movie RocknRolla, which stars Gerard Butler, Thandie Newton, Jeremy Piven and Chris "Ludacris" Bridges.

Madonna is rehearsing in New York for her upcoming Sticky and Sweet world tour starting in August.

Get to Know Jon McLaughlin!

“It's like who am I and why am I here?” - "Beating My Heart"

Jon describes himself as a “child of the ‘80s” in talking about the musical direction of OK NOW, with the very first single “Beating My Heart” the perfect example, an introspective, existential tune about nothing less than the meaning of life, with an elaborate pop-rock production that evokes Coldplay, thanks to soaring synths and a crackling backbeat.

JON McLAUGHLIN BIO:

A great deal has happened to Jon McLaughlin between the release of his debut Island Records album INDIANA last year, and his new, sophomore effort, OK NOW.

When we last saw him, the 25-year-old singer/songwriter was giving a show-stopping performance of the Oscar-nominated “So Close,” the song he sang in the hit Disney movie Enchanted, on the worldwide telecast of the 80th Annual Academy Awards ceremony.

The appearance re-ignited INDIANA, spurring a 1,514% overnight sales increase at Amazon, sending it to the #1 spot on its Movers & Shakers chart, and creating solid momentum for his latest release. The single from INDIANA, “Beautiful Disaster” attracted over 420,000 digital fans when featured as Download of The Week.

And after getting major touring slots with Sara Bareilles, Paolo Nutini and Kelly Clarkson, along with dates with Colbie Caillat, Duffy and One Republic under his belt, Jon McLaughlin hit his stride on the road.

Flushed with that success, McLaughlin entered an L.A. recording studio last year intent on undergoing both a musical and stylistic transformation. The heartland piano player expanded his palette by working with new producer John Fields (Rooney, Jonas Brothers, Lifehouse, Switchfoot), co-writing with the likes of Jason Reeves (Colbie Callait’s “Bubbly”) as well as writer/producers Tricky and The-Dream (Rihanna’s “Umbrella”), Troy Verges (Kenny Chesney’s “You Save Me”) and Brett James (Carrie Underwood’s “Jesus, Take The Wheel”).

McLaughlin admits the experience of appearing in Enchanted and performing on the Oscar telecast was a career-defining moment.

“The whole thing has taken on a life of its own,” he says. “I wasn’t even supposed to be in the movie. I love Disney ballads, but I didn’t necessarily connect it to what I do as an artist. But that image of an old-school crooner inspired me. I was able to see myself as something different, which helped me open up to try new things on this album. I wasn’t afraid to try on some new looks, either.”

With producer Fields playing bass, drums, slide guitar and a variety of other instruments, McLaughlin also enlisted the talents of ace players such as guitarists Tim Pierce and David Ryan Harris, as well as drummer Dorian Crozier in the studio.

“Smack Into You,” written and produced by Grammy winners Tricky and The-Dream, is about falling head over heels in love, a combination of the Police’s “Every Breath You Take” and U2’s “With Or Without You,” melding acoustic guitar and McLaughlin’s piano to create a passionate undertow. “This song has such a great groove and is so fun to play live,” says Jon. “It creates such a special moment in the room.”

Jon describes “You Can Never Go Back,” which he co-wrote with acclaimed L.A. singer/songwriter Bleu, as his attempt to write a “late-‘70s, early-‘80s Billy Joel song,” an admonition to not dwell on the past that evokes the blue-eyed soul of the Bee Gees crossed with Hall and Oates, buttressed by Fields’ George Harrison-like slide guitar riffs.

McLaughlin’s soul/R&B croon also characterizes “Things That You Say,” a bittersweet song about “loneliness, the isolation you feel when you’re trying to connect with anybody, but end up with these shallow, going-through-the-motions relationships instead.”

Synthesizers introduce “You Are the One I Love,” a song Jon co-wrote with Jason Reeves, inspired by the tabloid reports about Amy Winehouse’s stormy relationship with her husband Blake that shows an empathy to the beleaguered pair. The multi-layered production is driven home by Peter Gabriel-like tribal drum rhythms.

“I feel for them,” McLaughlin admits. “Who’s to say any of our relationships are any less dysfunctional? I think it’s cool that they’re so madly in love.”

“The Middle” is about being able to take the Hoosier kid out of Indiana, but not being able to take Indiana out of the Hoosier. The youngster who grew up in a conservative Midwestern household admits home is where his heart still remains: “Let me tell you now where I went wrong/Hollywood is just another place/I don’t belong.”

“Four Years” is another Billy Joel-style, tongue-in-cheek take on a ‘50s rocker about high school peer pressure that advises freshmen not to worry about the dictates of fashion.

“You just spend so much time worrying about stupid stuff that just doesn’t matter,” says McLaughlin, who insists his own high school years were pretty good. “I wish I could get back all the money I spent on Abercrombie and Fitch back then. If I heard this song when I was still in high school, I still don’t think it would change anything. You can’t change high school kids’ minds about these things...but I’m still going to try.”

“We All Need Saving,” a song about the importance of friendship, starts with a stack of Beach Boys-styled street corner doo-wop oooh-oooh harmonies McLaughlin recorded late one night on Garageband.com, which gives the song its sacred feel, while “Throw My Love Around” counsels that, with only one life left to live, it’s preferable to take risks then end up having regrets.

That same spirit of taking chances informed the making of OK NOW.

“My philosophy has changed,” nods McLaughlin. “Now I believe you should get crazy in the studio, explore different sounds, and I love the challenge of recreating the songs in the live setting –that’s the best part.”

OK NOW is OK to go.

Qui 'Revs It Up' with David Banner in Debut Music Video

Qui Presents Her DEBUT Music Video: 'Rev It Up' featuring David Banner!

Luv 'N Life IN STORES THIS SUMMER

AUDIO for "Rev It Up" feat David Banner

ABOUT QUI

Possessing talent is one thing. But equal measures of determination and focus are also required to succeed in today’s competitive music arena. Singer/songwriter/musician Jacqui “Qui” Rice is one of those talented few.

While maintaining a 4.0 average at Washington, D.C.’s Georgetown University, majoring in government and Spanish, with a focus on international relations, the college junior found time to pursue her long-held passion. Slated for a late summer release is Qui’s (pronounced “Kwee”) debut album, LUV ‘N LIFE (JJR Entertainment). The mix of mid-tempo, R&B/pop and ballads calls to mind such influences as Janet Jackson, Michael Jackson and Ciara. But LUV ‘N LIFE is definitely Qui’s show.

At a time when consumers are looking for more substantial melodies and lyrics, Qui’s music definitely fits the taste of today’s audience.

Born in Greenville, Mississippi and raised in Atherton, CA, Qui isn’t one of those paint-by-numbers artists who typify most contemporary music. Under the guidance of co-writer Francesca “Francii” Richard, and a team of talented production newcomers, Qui’s vocal talent, combined with her ability for writing relatable lyrics, shines against a backdrop of hypnotic grooves with across-the-board appeal.

On LUV ‘N LIFE, Qui chronicles the fun, yet scary rollercoaster ride, everyone experiences when it comes to relationships and love as well as the self-awareness that rises from this emotional journey. The siren intro and rousing beat of the opening track, “On the Line,” is infused with the exhilarating rush that happens when you meet “that someone” for the first time. Thrilled yet cautious, Qui explores her newfound feelings on the mid-tempo groove “Personal” and the poignant “Stay” (“You flipped the scenario/Every fear that I had/had to let it go).

Qui jumps into funky mode on the first single from her debut, the percolating dance joint “Rev It Up”. Her sultry vocals provide the perfect juxtaposition to the track’s featured guest, raspy-voiced, Mississippi-bred rapper David Banner.

Qui taps into her growing self-awareness as a young woman on the inspirational anthem “Girl Child.” Underscoring her subtly powerful vocal is a harmonizing chorus of girl-child voices backing Qui on the compelling hook (It’s hard being a lady when this world is crazy/Still I know it’s a blessing I was born a girl child). Love’s heartbreak is addressed on the moving ballad “It Was U,” while Qui’s awakening “a-ha” moment is expressed via the rock-infused “Solo.”

While recording LUV ‘N LIFE, Qui says her goal was to keep it “funky, fun and positive. You pretty much groove to every song on here.”

Emotion was a key factor as well. “It’s important to make people feel what you’re singing,” adds the artist whose musical influences also encompass pop/rock (John Mayer, Maroon 5), country (Johnny Cash, Shania Twain, rap (Snoop Dogg and David Banner) and gospel (Yolanda Adams, Donnie McClurkin).

“Lyrics really inspire me,” adds Qui. “I was always writing random lyrics and poems in school in my assignment books. Finally getting to see these songs come to life is exciting.”

Listening to her paternal grandmother sing in church during summers spent in Mississippi as well as to her parents’ diverse oldies collection, which included Marvin Gaye, Temptations, Billie Holiday and Elvis, Qui began playing piano at the age of five. Then at the age of 10, she declared her intent to become a singer. That desire was put to the test at age 11 when Qui performed the national anthem before 62,000 football fans at a San Francisco 49ers game.

“Dancing, music and singing always went hand in hand for me,” she says. “I found I love performing in front of crowds. It’s an adrenaline thing.”

Her first formal introduction into the music industry occurred at 15 when Qui joined a teen quartet called Sorella (Italian for sister). Performing up and down the California coast during the summer at showcases and festivals in Florida and Texas, the multi-ethnic pop group signed with JJR Entertainment,an independent label established by Qui’s mother. After four years, the group disbanded.

Qui comes by her competitive drive and fortitude naturally. Her father is legendary NFL Wide Receiver and Hall of Famer Jerry Rice, who put himself through a different kind of intense pace while a contestant on “Dancing With The Stars. Mother Jacqueline is a former pre-med student who manages the day-to-day operations of JJRE. “My Mom taught me how to multi-task,” says Qui. “She took us to school, ran the household and made sure my brother, sister and I had plenty of extra-curricular activities. She and my Dad taught us to dream.”

Though her career is a family affair, Qui is quick to proclaim she wants to forge her own identity and not trade on her parents’ notoriety. “My lifestyle doesn’t depend on my Dad or Mom’s success,” she adds. “I want to make a first impression based on who I am alone.”

In spring, 2008, Qui became the first African American to be crowned Queen of the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival, an achievement that Qui is quite proud of. Now in its 81st year, the festival is an annual tradition in Winchester, Virginia, (West of Washington, D.C.) that attracts more than 250,000 people.

A college girl at heart, she loves old movies, cupcakes, pizza and barbecued chicken and shares a house with five other students. Qui admits its difficult balancing her studies and a singing career. However, her “can-do” spirit remains just as strong as her zeal for LUV ‘N LIFE and the promise it holds. “It’s been difficult, but somehow you make it work and it’s worth it,’ she notes. “Music is where my heart is.”

New Whitney Houston Song (feat. Akon) - "Like I Never Left"

The legendary Whitney Houston returns with a track called “Like I Never Left” produced by and featuring hitmaker Akon. The track is presumed to be from her upcoming album, due to be released in November. However, there is no official confirmation yet.

“I want you to love me like I never left,” Whitney says in the new song.

It's not a very strong song to come back with, Whitney's strong vocals just aren't what they used to be. Perhaps it's just the song. What do you think?

New Snoop Dogg Video - "Those Gurlz"

Snoop Dogg just released his new video for "Those Gurlz". Just as "Sensual Seduction", the new single doesn't disappoint. The song was produced by Scoop deVille and samples the Bee Gees’ “Too Much Heaven.” Hot summer jam.

Ne-Yo - Official Album Cover for "Year Of The Gentleman" + "Take A Bow"

Here's Ne-Yo's album cover for "Year Of The Gentleman", which will be released in September. The album is very classy, I'd say it looks perfect!

Ne-Yo stopped by the UK's top Urban radio station 1Xtra today earlier today to promote his upcoming album "Year of The Gentleman". He also performed an acoustic rendition of Rihanna's #1 smash "Take A Bow".
Ne-Yo's version is actually better than Rihanna's!

LL Cool J's Official Cover for "Exit 13"

Kelly Rowland - New Album News

Kelly Rowland is cooking up something "deeper" and more "inspiring" for her third studio album. Her next album is set to be released in early 2009. "I definitely want a new sound so I am jamming in the studio with amazing musicians who just love music," she told the Daily Star. "I've asked The Script to do a duet and The Guillemots have given me one of their tracks to listen to." She continued: "I would love to do something with them or Alphabeat, and Kate Nash is dope."

It sounds like she's dropping R&B for something more pop like. This is exactly what Michelle Williams also did with her new upcoming album "Unexpected". Well if this works better for her, she should certainly give it a shot. "Ms. Kelly" hasn't exactly been a sucess.

New Michelle Williams Song - "Lucky Girl"

Here is another exclusive to the site. Even with her album being pushed back till October, a new song just leaked called "Lucky Girl" and here it is. Enjoy!!

New Daughtry Photoshoot

Daughtry was featured in OK Magazine with pictures and an interview. However, it looks like the band was featured in March. Still it's good to see a new photoshoot, it's been a while!

The Australian beauty, who has sold millions of albums around the world, is now poised for stardom stateside with a slew of high-profile appearances and rave reviews in support of her new disc, in-stores now on Mercury/Decca.

The buzz on Delta Goodrem continues to grow. Her knock-out performance on the top-rated morning show The View wowed audiences, alongside hits in People Magazine, OK! Magazine, Billboard and VH-1, where her video for first single, “In This Life,” climbed to #11 on the Top 20 Video Countdown last week. “In This Life,” recently described by People Magazine as “sunny,” and “shimmery,” also continues to move up the Hot AC airplay chart as well, receiving significant spins and listener reaction around the country.

In addition to music fans discovering Delta, the singer/songwriter can also count high-profile celebrities and journalists as admirers. After seeing Delta perform at the Jorge Posada Foundation’s “Hero’s 4 Hope” benefit, Kelly Ripa raved on-air on Live With Regis & Kelly, “she was phenomenal. She’s gorgeous and really quite a talent… She’s very big around the world and now she’s going to conquer America.”

Industry buzz-maker Roger Friedman with Fox News 411 recently commented, “Attention talent bookers at all the TV shows: Delta Goodrem is about to arrive in the U.S. from Australia. The 23-year-old’s debut album on Mercury is sensational and should establish her in the Celine Dion/Faith Hill mode. Regis, Matt and Meredith, Jay Leno, take heed: Here comes a Grammy Best New Artist nominee.” Perez Hilton has posted several items on Delta, again raving about “In This Life,” “We LOVE this song! Amy Winehouse at Madame Tussauds

Mitch and Janis Winehouse debuted the World-Famous Madame Tussauds Museum’s brand-new waxwork of their little girl to an excited crowd in London. Early this month, Amy said that a wax figure would be a little creepy. I think the Madame Tussauds Museum did a good job, however I never got excited to see wax figures, I'd rather see the real deal! What about you?
